I recently went on a Creative Industries study tour of Berlin. While absorbing the rich history , I attended a conference on the impact A.I. implementation is having on the industry and workforce, toured the shipping container wonderland of Raumsound Recording Studios (featuring two Dolby Atmos certified recording and post production studios built into stacked shipping containers),

One of the tour goals was to create a piece that represented my experience of Berlin. I was captivated by how the DIY street art and music scene took over former sites of from the cities past (many directly of the former oppressive regime) and repurposed them into spaces that represent freedom of expression, with a rich palate of styles and messaging.

With this in mind, I created an Industrial Techno-style track only using sounds I recorded while in Berlin. This includes train doors closing and police sirens detuned and refined into some of the kick drum sounds and even my colleague getting a feature with his metal tea pot lids he scored from a ‘lucky-dip’ unclaimed post vending machine (serving as the hi-hats). Outside of the kickdrum sounds I crafted, all the other sounds featured have been left as tonally organic as original.
